THE NEXT BIG TREND OF 2020 should be #Humanity

In this epidemic, we have seen how people have raided supermarkets, witnessed the rise of capitalism, the racial discrimination taking place, animals being fed crackers, hospitals having their own propaganda, communal hatred, the divide between the rich and the poor, politicians taking advantage of the situation, people being selfish for their own needs, the migrants suffering and succumbing due to the wealth divide, money ruling the locus.

But at the same route, we have also seen our COVID warriors putting up their best, saving lives, people donating money, groups helping the elderly to cope up with this and stay safe, animals being fed and taken care of, families supporting each other and everybody growing together. The privileged helping the economically downtrodden ones, lending their support to the ones affected in cyclones and earthquakes. People coming together to protest to the injustice caused to the blacks, this does give a hope that humanity does exist even though at a considerably less rate.

It is disheartening seeing people suffer, seeing people succumb to the pressure and the discrimination bestowed upon them, is that all we are? Is that how we humans are? Are we going to stoop so low that we do not empathize with another fellow human being? Who are we as human beings if we ignore the sufferings of others?

We will definitely come out of this situation victorious, I am sure but that shouldn’t be at the cost of our humaneness, at the cost of a human, at the cost of Mankind, that is all we have with us, that is all we own and it is a privilege. Just don’t let that go.

We are to be judged, to be tested at these times but that’s what it is about. Covid-19 has brought our lives to a standstill with empty roads, masked civilians, countries shut down, but that doesn’t mean we let go of our humanity, the choices we will put together should not only affect our economical growth or political agendas but should be the biggest contributor to humanity.

Even if the humans are locked down, the humanity in us should never be.

The planet isn’t going anywhere, we are all talking about saving the trees, saving the planet but we haven’t learned to care about one another, the planet has been here for a long time, it is us who we should start caring about but whatever the case, we shouldn’t stop believing or stop losing faith in humanity, the whole ocean won’t get polluted due to a few drops of dirty water.

It is not about being rich or poor, privileged or underprivileged, developed or developing, black or white but it is about being Compassionate, Empathetic and the most important of all Humane.
