You Are More Than Enough

Image
Society shapes us to feel that we must fit perfectly into cookie cutter molds. We must be beautiful, we must be intelligent, and we must be successful. We define these goals very one dimensionally – we ignore the fact that beauty comes in many different forms and facets, and that intelligence is different in every single person. These little pockets we create of how we “should” be are too severe. They leave no space for mystery, and no room for uncertainty. They ruin the chances of the miraculous unexpected, and put up sharp walls that block us off from personal growth. These societal specifications entertain our perfectionist tendencies – they push us further away from self-love. They make us more rigid in our mindsets, and more stuck on how we must be. Who we must be. We feel that we have to be a certain way or else we are a disappointment. But who makes these rules? Why do we fall for these – why do we become trapped by society’s manmade expectations? These rigid rules and strict boun...

Double Faced People: The 3 Types

Image
“I hate two faced people. It’s so hard to decide which face to slap first.” – Anonymous Everyone has encountered double faced people in their lives. These people tend to be very deceptive. No one knows the actual motive behind this quality of theirs. Most generally stay inactive. But once you do  something better than them  something they cannot do, and your name and fame begins to fly thick and fast, they become active with the intention to ruin your image. You may tend to avoid them, yet they cannot live without you. One of the probable reasons that can be cited for this illness of theirs is  jealousy . They envy you. They know they cannot equal you. So, they try to bring you back to their level of nothingness. Here is a brief classification of double faced people you may have met or may meet in future. Read and relate: The “friend”--- The “friend” stays with you as a friend of yours. You tell him/her your secrets because you trust him/her. ...

I Believe That Everyone Has Two Faces

Image
I believe that everyone has two faces that they wear throughout their life. One for the world they live in where they act a certain way to be socially accepted by their peers, and one for when they’re alone and all the pressures of life are lifted. When they can truly be themselves without being judged and free to act in whatever way seems appropriate to them. I believe that someone may know a friend their whole life and think they know everything about him or her, but behind closed doors, they may hold secrets that a friend would never dream of. A person’s personal life is like a deep ocean, full of secrets that a person would never want to see daylight. I myself have accumulated secrets throughout my life that I wouldn’t want my friends to know, not even my closest family members. Life has a way of making people feel self conscious about them selves, so they hide. The fear of people finding out and completely ruining my reputation that I’ve spent years building with my public face is...

Silver Lining

Image
We are all unique and different in our own little special way. I believe individuality and uniqueness is the most important trait that human beings possess. Even in books the main character or hero is most often liked because of their break with society’s norms. They venture out into the world to find their own opinions and experiences. No one on this planet has ever had the exact same experiences, the exact same failures, and the exact same victories. This idea consequently makes everyone unique because no one is the exact same as the person half way across the globe. Yes, we may be similar but we are not exactly the same, making us all different from one another. The difference between the hero and the average character in a book is that the hero will embrace those different opinions and experiences and learn to become an individual, while the average character will cast those unique opinions aside and become just another mindless zombie following the crowd. Being unique or different...

Lockdown Aur Mrityu: Coping Up!

Image
COVID-19 ne aaj humari zindagi mein kayi badlav laa diye hain. In badlaavo mein se ek “Kisi apne ki mrityu” ka dukhad samachar milna bhi hai. Phle jab kisi ki tabiyat kharab hone ki khabar matra se, hum unki seva karne unke paas pahuch jaate the, is Lock-down ne vah saubhagya bhi humse cheen liya hai.Aaj ke samay mein antim yatra se lekar ke 13-vi ke bhojan tak ki sabhi paramparao mein antar aa gaya hai. Ghar se dur reh rahe bache apne bade budho ke ek darshan matr taras jaa rahe hain.Itne kathin samay mein, jab hume akele rehne ki seekh dii ja rahi hai, us samay mein apne kisi khas ki mrityu ke dukh se ubar pana bhi bahut kathin hai. Is kathin paristithi ka samna karne hetu kuch sujhav is prakar ho skte hain. 1. Agar aap us sthan se dur hain jaha pe yeh ghatna hui hai, ya vaha tak pahuch nahi sakte kyuki sarkaar ne aane jane pe rok laga ke rakhi hai to apne parivaar-jano se phone-calls ke dwara sampark mein rahe. Mushkil ki ghadi mein apne hi himmat aur prem de pate hain. 2. Humare cu...

What Rules........What Curfews?

Parents give too many rules nowadays, but without rules, teenagers have no guidance. Teens no longer believe in rules and curfews. They believe that now, since they are older, they are more mature and can be more responsible, but truly most teens abuse this privilege and disobey their parents. Many of my friends don’t have curfews, but they don’t dare abuse this freedom. Other teenagers will stay out late. Their parents call, but they refuse to answer their calls. These kids are irresponsible; they believe it’s cool to disobey their parents. I’m 19 years old, a current student. I also have rules and curfews that I have to abide by, but I don’t complain because I believe my parents make wise decisions. Parents’ first priority is to always protect and nurture their kids. They give rules and curfews to protect you; they want to know where you are and when you will be home. They want you to be safe. They want to raise you and see you grow up as a successful adult; you, until then, are the ...

Love and acceptance

Image
Human nature is a complex thing, an enigma fused with obfuscation, a compilation of animalistic feelings and instincts. Human nature has its tender, sympathetic aspects, as well as its cold, malevolent, simple-minded abominations. Insecurity is one such abomination; It is in our nature to compare ourselves to one another and fabricate an image of what we believe we should be, based on how we degrade our self-worth by shunning, marring, and altering our true selves to fit the identity others assign us. How we value ourselves shouldn’t be based on what we amount to when compared to someone who is not us. We should love and accept ourselves unconditionally with the realization that everyone is beautiful in their own unique way, a way that cannot be compared or criticized, only equally admired. To begin, ever since Facebook was created in 2004, as well as myriad other social media giants such as Twitter and Instagram, our society’s self-worth has been distorted and its insecurities evo...

Empathy-accept-others-for-who-they-are

Image
Have you ever had a hard time “fitting in” somewhere? Whether it be at school or work, in a new group of friends, or even your own family, we can all relate to feeling unaccepted at one time or another. On the other hand, many of us can think of a time that we had trouble accepting someone else.Acceptance is the ability to see that others have a right to be their own unique persons. That means having a right to their own feelings, thoughts and opinions. When you accept people for who they are, you let go of your desire to change them. You let them feel the way they want to feel, you let them be different and think differently from you. Everyone is different in one way or another. Once you understand this truth, you can stop trying to change them into the people you want them to be and start accepting them for who they are.Acceptance of others’ feelings is not easy when people act differently than we do. We all have trouble accepting those who are different. By learning the skill of emp...
